Endless Stair at Tate Modern

“Design is everywhere!” So declares the London Design Festival for its 300 events and exhibitions across the city. Here’s The Endless Stair built on the Tate Modern lawn, and it’s this year’s Landmark event.

The 187 stairs are made of 11.4 tonnes of American tulipwood, an abundant material which designer Alex de Rijke predicts will be the dominant building material of the 21st century, calling it “the new concrete”.
