With Legambiente for la Terra dei Fuochi (the Land of Fires)

As our friends already know, Frida and I have been committing for some months to a Master in Social Media Marketing, in order to improve our blogger activity and keep us up to date on the latest novelties about Social. So, through SQcuola di Blog and a team of  tight knit distant colleagues (Francesca, Silvia, Irene, Luisa, Margherita, Stefania, Giovanna e Vanessa) I just put my commitments of architect  and designer aside to get completely involved in a project for a well-known environmental association, Legambiente.

Three are the protagonists of 5×1000 fundraising of this year: Orti Urbani, Goletta Verde restoration and La Terra dei Fuochi (the Land of Fires, to whom I’m particularly devoting the cares of my work. This area, situated between Naples and Caserta, is nowadays at the hands of ecomafias and conniving politicians who allow everyday to set on fire toxic waste poisoning the inhabitants who live in the surrounding areas.

Cancer cases  and death rates are the highest in Italy, fields are still cultivated (despite several tons of industrial waste  put underground for over twenty years) and local fruit and vegetables end up on our tables because bought by  big companies at fire-sale prices. Of all the protests held by the people who live there and  the innumerable deaths the State doesn’t care at all.

Pensavate che fossimo sparite? In effetti…

Come gli amici già sanno, Frida ed io siamo impegnate da alcuni mesi con un master in Social Media Marketing , per migliorare la nostra attività di blogger e tenerci aggiornate sulle ultime novità nel campo dei Social. E così, attraverso SQcuola di Blog e con un team di affiatate colleghe a distanza (Francesca, Silvia, Irene, Luisa, Margherita, Stefania, Giovanna e Vanessa), ho messo per un attimo da parte i miei impegni di architetto e designer e mi sono buttata a capofitto in un progetto per un’associazione ambientalista di fama mondiale, Legambiente.

Sono tre i protagonisti della raccolta del 5X1000 di quest’anno: gli Orti Urbani, il restauro della nota Goletta Verde e la Terra dei Fuochi, alla quale in particolare vanno le attenzioni del mio lavoro. Quest’area, sita tra Napoli e Caserta, è ad oggi in balia delle ecomafie e dei politici conniventi che consentono che vengano appiccati quotidianamente roghi di rifiuti tossici che avvelenano gli abitanti delle zone circostanti.

Il tasso di morti e di malati di tumore è il più alto d’Italia, i campi continuano ad essere coltivati (nonostante vi siano state sversate tonnellate di rifiuti industriali per oltre vent’anni) e la frutta e la verdura di queste aree finiscono sulle nostre tavole perché acquistati a prezzi stracciati dalle multinazionali. Delle proteste delle persone che vivono lì e degli innumerevoli morti, lo Stato se ne infischia.

L’hashtag ufficiale della campagna #5xchi è stato tra i Trend Topic di Twitter al momento del nostro lancio il 12 maggio, e di questo ne siamo fiere, perché i nostri sforzi sono riusciti realmente a portare sotto i riflettori l’impegno dell’associazione.
